Detailed Trip itinerary
Day 1: Kampala to Bwindi Forest National park
Set off at 8:00am for Bwindi via Mbarara, Kanungu, Rukungiri to Buhoma. Enroute, stop over at the Mpambire drum village for souvenirs and then at the Equater to participate in the water experiment with Lunch at Igongo Museum/Agip Motel in Mbarara. Arrive in Bwindi late evening for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Camp Bandas/Gorilla Resort / Buhoma Lodge/Haven Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking
Have a very early breakfast and leave at 7:30am for briefing by UWA officials before going for gorilla tracking. Tracking gorillas through the impenetrable forest may take 4-8 hrs. The activity requires patience and endurance but coming face to face with Man’s shy cousins in the jungle is an inspiring moment. Packed Lunch and water is carried along with stopovers to recoup the energy level, hydrate and for lunch in between the hike as guided by the game rangers. Return back to the lodge to freshen up and dinner as you converse among or with other travelers the various experiences depending on the families tracked
Day 3: Bwindi – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early in the morning after breakfast, get going on the day’s long journey to Queen Elizabeth NP via Ishasha a place known for the rare and mysterious tree climbing lions. At Ishasha, take on the Northern circuit as you look out for the rare cats on the fig trees. Expect to see large herds of Buffaloes, Kobs, Forest hogs and Elephants. Dinner and overnight at Pumba Cottages/ Mweya safari lodge/Simba Safari camp/Bufallo camp
Day 4: Morning game drive and Afternoon launch cruise
Go for an early morning game drive to the Kasenyi area known as the Kob mating ground. Kasenyi offers great chances of spotting lions, the area has great scenery and diverse physical landforms. Expect to see large herds of Kobs, buffaloes and elephants. Get back to your lodge for breakfast and then visit the Main Museum as you wait for the afternoon launch cruise. After lunch, go for the 2 hour launch cruise at the Kazinga channel, the activity starts from Mweya to Lake Edward and back. Expect to see hippos, elephants, buffaloes and brilliant waterside birdlife.
Dinner and overnight at Pumba cottages/Mweya safari lodge/Simba Safari camp/Bufallo camp.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth – Kibale Forest National park
Set off after breakfast from Queen Elizabeth NP to Kibale Forest NP for the best Chimpanzee tracking experience in East Africa. Arrive on time for lunch after which visit Bigodi swamp eco tourism site with amazing scenery and full of beautiful flora and fauna. This is a good spot for birders. Dinner and overnight at Rweteera camp lodge/Kibale Primate Lodge/Mountains of the Moon Hotel/Chimpanzee View Guest house.
Day 6: Kibale Forest National park – Kampala
After early breakfast, leave for chimpanzee tracking in the forest, an activity that starts at 8.00am local time. The tracking takes half a day. During the activity expect to see a variety of forest inhabitants like chimpanzees, phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the dense forest, birds, butterflies and many small insects. Head back to Kampala arriving in time to catch you next flight or drop off at your Lodge/Hotel in Kampala/Entebbe.
