Detailed Trip Itinerary
A gorilla trekking tour starting in Uganda and ending in Rwanda Or Uganda
Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi National Park
An early start from Kampala after your Breakfast takes you southwest of Uganda by road with your guide, cross the Equator and then head off to Mbarara for Lunch, afterwards proceed to the Impenetrable forest of Bwindi arriving late in the evening in time for dinner and overnight stay at Gorilla forest camp/ Buhoma lodge/ Gorilla Resort or budget Buhoma community Bandas.
Day 2: Gorilla expedition and community walk
After an early morning breakfast followed by a short briefing by the guides, proceed through the undergrowth and thick creepers of the dense rain forest in search of these endangered giant Mountain Gorillas. You will carry along packed lunch and water since the trek often range 3-8 hour. An encounter with the most peaceful, infrequent and endangered of all the apes is a fascinating experience. After an hour allowed with the giants, return to the lodge. In case you have the afternoon free, have a guided village walk to nearby communities to see and experience the different aspects of Ugandan lives, cultures and lifestyles.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes Park Rwanda
Past breakfast leave for Rwanda. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your lodge, having beautiful views of panoramic sunset over the volcanoes, you could also enjoy cultural visits to the local people the Banyarwanda.
Dinner and Overnight at Mountain gorilla view lodge / Gorillas Nest Lodge / Kinigi guest house.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and hiking
After an early breakfast, you will hike up to the bamboo forest with packed lunch because tracking the Gorillas may take 3 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the great apes, spend an hour in the company of the gorillas, see how they feed and play with each other then return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will have a tour of Ruhengeri and a visit to Lake Burela and Ruhondo. Then Retire at your Lodge for dinner.
Day 5: Return to Kampala
The day begins with an early breakfast after which return to Kampala or Kigali at your own convenience with Lunch enroute and check into a Hotel or Transfer to the Airport for your flight home.
