5 Day Primates Safari in Uganda & Rwanda

Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Forest National Park

After an early breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide to head to Bwindi Impenetrable Jungle park, this is a 9-10 Hours drive but with stopovers at the Equator and Mbarara for a lunch break. The busy human activities enroute and beautiful scenery and undulating landscapes will keep your eyes glued till the final destination and your free to request for any stop in case of need to take some captions.  Arriving late evening to check in at your Lodge “Gorilla resort/ Buhoma Lodge/ community Bandas” for dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This is the main adventure of the safari and a life changing encounter. You will have an early breakfast at 6:30 am so that your ready for the main pre- tracking briefing at the starting point. The briefing is aimed at giving trackers tips on precautions needed upon encountering the giant apes the Mountain Gorillas. Tracking may take 3-8 hours depending on where the Gorilla family allocated is found with one hours permitted for photography. You will carry packed lunch and water along and breaks will be scheduled to help trackers catch their breath, take water and lunch. After you will return to your lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 3: Transfer Bwindi park to Rwanda Volcanoes Park

You will set off for Rwanda  after breakfast via Cyanika border post and transfer to Kinigi – Ruhengeri, home of the endangered mountain gorillas.
Drive past stunning scenery of lush green hills and valleys to the base of Sabinyo Mountain one of the Volcanoes. Dinner and overnight at “Volcanoes Virunga Lodge/Mountain gorilla view lodge / Kinigi guest house.”

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing before going for gorilla trekking, upon encountering the apes, you will have 1 hour with them. Tracking the great apes through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Volcanoes is a thrilling experience. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you can choose to explore the area, perhaps visiting nearby lakes and villages or go for a walk on your own in the farmland around the hotel or just relax and enjoy the scenery.

Dinner and overnight at “Gorilla Mountain View Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Kinigi Guest House”

Day 5: Depart for Kampala

Have a leisurely breakfast amidst the cool climate and then set off for the journey to Kampala with lunch enroute, arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight or transfer to the Airport for your flight home. Or you can opt to be transfered to Kigali in case departure flight is schedule for Kigali International airport in Rwanda.
